What must be the new value proposition and how might we inspire the growth of a promising start-up in the vertical farming space?
Growx is an Amsterdam-based vertical farming start-up. Innovating at the intersection of technology and agriculture, they developed a modular vertical farming system capable of growing micro-greens and herbs. They sell their produce to fine-dining restaurants and select organic grocery stores. Growx is in pursuit of a long-term innovation strategy to premeditate potential growth plans in the process of scaling up the company. In this regard, the company partnered with the faculty of Industrial Design Engineering at TU Delft to explore the future of vertical farming and get inspired by the different ideas for implementing a farming-as-a-service model. The client’s brief was open in nature, with little specificity on resources and their capabilities. However, visiting their facility in Amsterdam provided us with additional information in this regard.
